The “one-ring scam” resurfacing across Canada which loads hefty fees onto your phone bill. The fraudsters place calls that appear to originate overseas and hang up quickly. No voicemail will be left and whoever returns the anonymous missed call, sometimes will get charged upto $400 a minute and get piled onto their monthly bill. Blocking suspicious numbers is not enough because new numbers are being created. To keep you online, you are often greeted by music or a pre-recorded message. So to stay away from this “one ring scam”, the best advice is don’t answer and don’t call back to any anonymous numbers.
