    Vancouver police reported another CRA scam. This time the scammers went a step forward and kidnapped a 58-year-old lady and forced to pay $6000. Here is the story in detail;

    The Vancouver police say the lady got a call on Thursday, June 21, 2018 claiming it’s a call from the national tax agency. She was told there was a warrant issued for her arrest related to a balance owed from her taxes. The scammer transferred the call to another person who identified himself as a cop and prodded her into providing personal information, including her location.

    Then, two men showed up wearing what appeared to be RCMP uniforms and handcuffed her and placed her in the backseat of an older-model sedan. She was then forced to take out $6,000 at a bank at Cambie Street and King Edward and deposit it into a Bitcoin machine in Surrey. The suspects – a white man in his 30s, 5’11”, with an average build, light brown hair and a full, trimmed beard and second man is described as a white man, 25 to 27 years old, with short brown hair and clean shaven – left the area without the victim.

    Police again reminding people, hang up on anyone claiming to be from the CRA. If you want to double check, call the agency at a publicly available number. Also, the CRA will not threaten customers with arrest, send the police to collect funds, or accept Bitcoin and gift cards as payment.
